This island is situated in the east part of the Peloponnese, not far from Loutraki. The town looks like an amphitheater around the port. In the Middle Ages it was populated with rich merchants and shipowners who built luxury mansions on the island. Most of these buildings have survived until now.

The main feature of the island is absence of cars. All transportation is performed by donkeys. Walking across the town, you’ll get into a maze of narrow streets, beautiful squares and cozy courtyards. Among the main sights there are: a monastery of Prophet Elias and the Historical Museum of Hydra with over 4000 books and manuscripts.
